Ky Derby Pool 1 This Weekend
Derby Futures Pool 1 will run this weekend, opening on Thursday and going through Sunday. You will generally want to wait until Sunday afternoon to bet, ensuring you watch the Risen Star on Saturday and San Vicente on Sunday, both 3yo preps. Just don’t miss the polls, they will close sharply at 6pm.
Fair Grounds has a big meet on Saturday with the Risen Star for 3yo and Rachel Alexandra for 3yof, formerly called the Silverbulletday, which was run last month as the first filly prep for the FG Oaks. They will also run the Fairgrounds Handicap and Mineshaft.
Gulfstream and Santa Anita also have some graded stakes on Saturday, but stay tuned Sunday for the San Vicente.
