2016 Kentucky Derby Futures Pool 4 Day 2 Grid

The final stage of the Kentucky Derby Futures Pool is underway with Pool 4 beginning on Friday. Each day of the pool will have it’s unique closing odds to lock in to.
.
The top two horses are Mohaymen 7-2 and Nyquist 8-1, both undefeated and at the top of most rankings. Interestingly enough, they are both facing off in the Florida Derby G1 on Saturday.

This means that if you want to lock in odds of 5-1 or more on Nyquist, Friday night would be a good time to do it, before he beats Mohaymen in the $1 million Fla Derby.

Others of interest would be Gun Runner, who I can’t imagine going off at his ML of 15-1 or anything above 10-1, after his past two victories at the Fair Grounds.
.
Mo Tom is also at 15-1 and is now a sleeper after coming up short in those past two races that Gun Runner won, 1 due to getting cut off in the stretch, and the other a subpar ride.
.
Danzing Candy warrants merit at 12-1 after dominating 3 straight front running wins including the San Felipe G2. His one dimensional style is the downside.

Tom’s Ready who finished 2nd to Gun Runner in the La Derby last out, is at 20-1. Zulu, whose only loss is to Mohaymen in the Fountain of Youth, is 30-1 ML.

The midpack runner Swipe, who finished 2nd to Nyquist 4 times in a row before going on the rehab trail, is at 30-1. He will need to run and finish ITM in a prep to even get in to the big one, but it’s possible.
.
Mor Spirit, who has yet to finish worse than 2nd, as he did to Danzing Candy in the San Felipe, is set at 12-1 ML and will not race until next weekend in the SA Derby.

Rebel winner Cupid looks good at 10-1 but you’ll probably similar odds on Derby day, unless he romps the field in the Arkansas Derby next weekend.

The others you can take at your own risk, and I wouldn’t recommend any of them, except maybe the field if it holds at or near 10-1.
Collected, Donegal Moon, and a few others looked excellent last out, but alas at this point the roses winner will likely be one of the single entries.
