There are 2 late Pick 4’s at Belmont Park today: The late, late Pick 4 for races 10-13, and more importantly the all-stakes late pick 4 from races 8-11 starting with the Just a Game G1, with a guaranteed pool of at least $1.5 million.

In race 8, I’m not sure why Strike Charmer is still a long shot after a solid win over long shot Tapitry and favored Recepta last and out. All 3 got bumped around early and Strike ran the best race. 16-1? Also only 2 E horses, La Berma and Celestine, the latter of which has the class to win as an early runner.

The Met Mile race 9 will have a lot of money pouring in on Noble Bird after a great front running Pimlico Special in which he ran away by over 11 lengths in beating nobody. One thing to notice about this horse is that he’s thrown in a stinker after his previous 2 outstanding races, and he’s never been that good at less than 8.5f.

Frosted will probably be favored and deserves to be with his record. Blofeld is who catches my eye, coming off a solid 4th at 9f, but stomping Stanford and Anchor Down the previous time at a mile. Stanford also excels when front running against nobody, as does Anchor Down, who would like a muddy track. Ami’s Flatter is great at 7f but magically sucks at 8 or more.

The Manhattan G1 is trickier, because normally you bet the best late runners at 10f on turf, but there’s almost no speed. Favored Flintshire was amazing last time in North American turf, but I need to add some early speed to my ticket. World Approval and Grand Tito offer that. Big Blue Kitten has the top LP.

I’ve already been handicapping the Belmont Stakes all week. Going with Destin, Exaggerator, and maybe Governor Malibu if there’s room on the ticket. Stradivari seems to have a shot too but it’s more likely he’s in there to give Destin his running mate.

For the late late Pick 4, there’s no speed in race 12 so I like the only semblance of speed, Make a Decision, and the great late running favorite.

Race 13, I’ll take favored Watershed, lone front runner Amoral, top EP Cerro, and top LP Dannie’s Deceiver, 8-1 ML. It’s possible these will be the top 4 public choices but oh well.
