Shagaf, favored at 5-4 in his 3rd lifetime start, remained unbeaten in his first stakes race. He rated in nicely behind moderate fractions to take the lead in the stretch. The Bernardini colt has legit speed for Chad Brown.

Laoban set the pace alone for most of the way but was overtaken in the end, remaining a maiden in his 4th start after finishing 3rd in the Sham.

Adventist came from the rear of the pack with a nice closing frun for 3rd to pick up some Derby points. Sunny Ridge had a disappointing effort after contending for the lead, fading to 4th.
