Saturday, November 23, 2019. Woodbine has it’s usual >=1 graded stakes race today, the Kennedy Road G2 sprint for 3up at 6f. The feature race is the $225k Coronation Futurity for 2yo’s of course.

The 9f futurity could be considered the Canadian equivalent of any graded 8f+ 2yo race in the US held this month, of which there have been several.

Steve Asmussen ships maiden winner Halo Again, the lightest raced in the field, after his 7f win at Churchill, and not surprisingly has top EP and stands a good chance if his speed holds up on poly.

We’ll see if any of the Canadian racers can keep up with him for 9f, but running well late with top LP will be the favorite Muskoka Gold, runner up by 1/2 length in the Grey Stakes G3 for Mark Casse, closing from 11 back.

The 8 horse futurity should be competitive, with several top trainers and sires competing to see mainly how welltheir juveniles can compete at 9f which will be the distance of the major 3yo preps next year.
