Remington Park Friday Night: Oklahoma Classics Series with over $1 million in purses

.

Friday, October 16, 2020.  Remington Park will host the annual Oklahoma Classics series tonight, featuring 10 stakes races worth about$1.12 million in purse money total.  It’s rare that we spotlight this small time track but it’s a million dollar Friday night card that starts at 8:07 Eastern.

Races are mostly for 3 and up male and female divisions in different distances, including a couple on turf.  But there are also a pair of 2yo races, divided into male and female, with 19 promising juveniles on the card. Get today’s Free Grid here to follow along.

Tied for the smallest purse of the day, the Filly Mare Starter has 9 entries. The favorite has been good but showed a problem tiring at 6.5f last out. Dave’s Baby also weakened at 6.5f but has top LP and 12-1.  The only 2 that have showed success at longer than 6f are Checkerboard at 15-1 and Lucky Liza Ann at 8-1, both of which have wins at 6.5f.  Race is wide open, focus on the long shot specials.

It’s all about Number One Dude at 8-5, winner by 7.5 lengths first time out.  I don’t see the others touching him, but first time starter Winners Luck 10-1 wouldn’t be in here if Scott Young didn’t think he belonged. The others are running for 2nd thru 5th money.

This one has some great possibilities. Green Eyed Belle 6-1 has the best PF, 2nd in EP and LP.  Several are tied for the 2nd best PF, including Twilight Curfew, a 2nd time starter who finished strong first time out.  Also tied for the 2nd best PF are Gee Gee at 8-1 and the favorite Gotta See Red.  Another wide pen race.

The first route of the day has a solid pair of co-favorites of which Lady Orchid looks like the best, with top LP and returning to dirt where she has the best PF in the field. Maybe wheel all on bottom.

Looks real chalky for this one.

Favorite is solid but don’t be surprised if Sprint Steen ends up as the post favorite from 4-1 now which is decent value as does Three Chords at 9-2.  Sweet Mary M had a rough go last out but will be hard to catch if she gets the lead at 8-1.  Lil Footnotes could pick up pieces at 12-1.

1-2 Welder will be very tough to beat.  However the 4 rules horse is Mesa Moon at 5-1 ML, and also tied for top LP with Daaher’s Success at a ridiculous 15-1 which will never hold up tonight.

R8 11:23ET 8.5f T OKTrfClscB130k 3 UP

This turf race is a bit more open, with my top pick Cowboy Mischief at 5-1 with top LP.  Combine him with 2nd LP Half Hours at 8-1 and the 2 top ML picks and add Sedaris for a superfecta bet.

R9 11:51ET 8.5f D Ok ClscsCpB175k 3 UP

Chalky again, with Fast Breakin Cash some value at 5-1 and possibly United Patriot if he can regain past form after two horrid outings.

R10 12:19ET 7f D OKClscStrt40k 3 UP

The last race of the day also has the smallest purse, but the biggest field with 12 for the male starters.  I don’t see how in blazes my top pick Rockport Kat will go off anywhere near 12-1.  The other top contenders are the top 4 ML choices, so it could get chalky, but I’ll throw in Hoodoo Brown at 10-1 for some added spice.

That’s how I see it. Good luck and may the horse be with you.
