Breeders’ Cup 2020 Spotlight Series: BC Juvenile Fillies G1 Precap

.

Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  In case you forgot, with all the other news going on especially in the USA, the biggest North American horse racing weekend is coming up at the end of this week!  The Breeders’ Cup begins on Friday and concludes on Saturday with 22 great stakes races.

.

Keeneland hosts this year’s Breeders’ Cup, with 10 races on Friday, 5 of which are Juvenile BC races, and 12 races on Saturday including the 9 G1 BC races for older horses.  Two multi-day BC Doubles are being promoted:  the Juvenile Fillies- Distaff Double, and the Juvenile- Classic Double.

.

In the spotlight series, we’ll preview and handicap one of those races each day so that we can get through all 4 of them by Friday afternoon in time for you to make some good weekend doubles and some good winning bets in general.  Today’s spotlight race is the BC Juvenile Fillies G1.

.

SIMPLY RAVISHING will take post 1 again in the BC Juvenile Fillies G1, after winning her last race at Keeneland, the Darley Alcibiades G1. Coady Photo.

Weather outlook:  Moderate temps reaching perhaps 70 with plentiful sunshine.

7 outstanding fillies will compete for the 2yo female juvy title this year at 8.5f, 6 of which are graded stakes winners and 4 G1 winners.  In reality, it’s hard to not consider 5 of them as a potential winner, but let’s try to narrow it down a bit more if possible.  First let’s take a look at the Grid for this race.

.

BC Juvenile Fillies G1 Grid snapshot.

.

Simply Ravishing at 5-2 looks like she will be a virtual co favorite, and is undefeated in 3.  She won the PG Johnson by 6, giving her the high PF in the field, following that up with a 6 length win over Crazy Beautiful in the Darley Alcibiades G1.  Top in LP, Stamina, and Power bodes well in this race.

Princess Noor 9-5 is the ML favorite. On paper it may look like she regressed last out, but it was an 8 length G2 win against 4 others that couldn’t keep up. She won her others including the G1 Del Mar Debutante giving her that 93 PF.  This is her first trip out east and hasn’t run against anyone in this field, but hasn’t done anything wrong.

.

Dayoutoftheoffice at 5-2 will likely also be a virtual co favorite in this race.  Also a winner of all 3, she had a 6 length score in the Schuylerville G3, following that up with the Frizette G1 for which she got the 2nd best PF in the field beating Vequist by 2 lengths.  Top EP and Speed rating, she’s tough to catch, as evidenced by no losses yet.

.

Girl Daddy at 6-1 is also undefeated in both her races, including the Pocohontas G3 last out where she beat Crazy Beautiful by 2.  She doesn’t look the best on paper but has every right to improve her 3rd time out and give the G1 winners a run for the money.  After all, most of them improved in their 3rd out. If there’s a long shot special it’s this girl.

.

Vequist at 8-1 is also a G1 winner, impressively taking the Spinaway by 9 lengths her 2nd time out after losing maiden by a nose.  Last out she could not catch Dayoutoftheoffice in the Frizette G1, instead chasing her around the track 2 lengths back.  She could turn the tables here but it’s also stiffer competition. .

Those are the five main contenders in the order in which I see them finishing, 1 7 3 5 2.  The other two haven’t shown the ability to take on the G1 winners in this class, and will have to step up in class to do so.  But these are very young fillies and that can happen, so it will be an exciting race either way.

.

You can get the Grid for all races at Keeneland both days in one package right here.

Good luck!
