The great summer racing continues and by no doubt you know last week’s results so I won’t bore you with those details. You can check out on the free picks section to see where we hit and missed last week.

The big news was that heavily favored Fort Larned failed to repeat his Whitney victory, struggling mightily and allowing a big G1 win by Cross Traffic at Saratoga. At Mountaineer, the heavily favored Departing lived up to his billing with a great stretch run in the WV Derby.

This week the jackpot carryovers have continued at Louisiana Downs, with Pick 5 Jackpot of over $770K today, and Arlington’s Pick 9 jackpot which should surpass $100k today. That’s about it for excitement at those tracks this weekend but either jackpot would certainly be an exciting hit.

Let’s look at what’s up this weekend as far as stakes racing. Saratoga’s National Museum Hall of Fame G2 on Friday looks chalky with heavy favorites Charming Kitten and Rydilluc looking very strong in the 3yo turf field. In the ensuing race, the Alada 100k, Flashy American is expected to win but 4-1 Street Secret is improving quickly, and 6-1 And Why Not has the best PF last out.

On Saturday, Toga has a usual jam-packed card of 11 races with over 120 horses initially entered. The 4stardave G2 is the featured race, and Wise Dan is less than even money on morning line, but this race is highly competitive. The preceding race is a 14 horse turf stakes that has twice as many possibilities.

Also on Saturday are the Monmouth Oaks G3 for fillies and the Evangeline Mile. Sabrecat is heavily favored, but again that’s why they run the race. The longest shot Arkansas Martini actually also has the best PF last out, and the fastest 2 EP’s are 5-1 and 8-1. Del Mar will run the La Jolla G2.

On Sunday the stakes continue with a usual big day at Saratoga featuring the Adirondack and Saratoga Special both G2’s for 2yo’s. Del Mar will have the Mabee G2 on turf, Arapahoe has a Classic and Emerald Downs will run their Derby.
