Weekend Winners Club

I have some good news and unfortunately also some bad news today. The good news is that racing will return to SOCAL next week with the opening of the Del Mar summer meet. The rest of us will then be able to watch in jealousy as the SOCAL slackers attend races in nice sunny California climates.

The bad news is that due to some complications, our horse racing site may have to remain temporarily inactive or even off the web. It’s been operating at a loss, as have I the past few months, due to medical problems taking up a lot of time and money, as they can with no health insurance.

We all know that my newsletters, while they provide free information, analysis, and samples of our products, also double as solicitations to increase membership. We want this to continue to be a growing community, but growth is down this year for the first time ever. This week’s newsletter in particular, is solely about membership and donations.

As you may know, this is actually a non-profit business, providing both free products and services, and also paid options where the customer receives all of our products. Therefore we accept both monthly subscriptions and also donation options.

The revenue from subscriptions and donations is used for site operations, and sometimes we operate at a loss, which some non-profits do, but we’re obviously not government subsidized and have no big money venture capitalists, unfortunately.

Right now, we need at least $200 more in donations, which will keep the site running until at least next month, when there will be more recurring monthly charges. Unfortunately this time of year we also owe annual charges, and our goal is $500 to ensure it stays up the rest of the year.

A lot of work goes into the site and the products that we offer, and it is financed by mostly our customers and subscribers. It doesn’t make sense to operate this business at a loss for half the year, combined with all the unpaid labor that goes into it. To this point, it’s been largely a labor of love.

At the same time, it would be completely unfair to members that already paid for this month and future months, to not be able to get the products or services they’re entitled to. Therefore we have to ask that our newsletter base for some donations or subscriptions in order to pay the bills.

So, if you have ever used any of the products, analysis, or information we provided, whether you profited from it or not, please consider making any donation you can to keep this great site alive and kicking, and providing this unique product called the Grid.

• Performance figures for past 10 races as most other products have
• Increased situational stats
• Layoff indicators for various points in time
• Some itemized situational stats
• Sire and dam stats and ratings
• A working mobile app
